Now that you know the possible reasons for this error, let’s move on to the solution to get your printer back online.

How can you get your offline printer back online?

Try the solutions below to solve your printer’s offline issue:

1. Check the printer and its Connectivity

First, ensure that the printer is switched on and linked to your Mac through the right network. If you connect the printer with a USB port to your device, then check the status of your printer. To check, go to the “Apple menu” and open “System Information." Then check the hardware list to see if your printer has an active status. If not, then try reconnecting the printer with the computer.

Also, make sure that there is enough paper and ink to print, and no paper jamming issue with the printer.

2. Attempt to start printing again

To resume printing, follow these steps:

  • Under Mac’s dock, tap on the icon of the printer.
  • The printing queue window will open. Then click on the resume option to start printing again.
  • If a certain task is holding the print job then delete it. To delete, choose the task and click the little Delete icon on the right (with an X sign).
  • To restart a paused task, click on the curve arrow mark after selecting that task.

Note: You could have selected another printer if your print order isn't in the printer’s queue. Make sure you select the right printer before printing again.

3. Disable extensions for print dialogues

Some print dialogue extensions that provide custom print choices and dialogues may lead to an offline error. Use these methods to deactivate those extensions:

  • Select “Printers & Scanners” from the sidebar under “System Settings” in the Apple menu.
  • Then, toggle the “Use Generic Printer Features” checkbox by selecting your printer from the Printers list placed on the right.
  • After that, click OK to approve.

4. Re-add the printer to create a fresh printer queue

You can solve the printer offline mac error by reading your printer.

  • First, open "Printers & scanners" from "System settings" on the Apple menu.
  • Then, click the "Add printer" button.
  • A list of printers will show up, add your printer from the list or by entering the IP address of the printer.
  • Also, set your printer as the default printer from the “Printer & Scanner” tab.

5. Update printer drivers

Sometimes, technical glitches occur due to outdated printer drivers, or your computer might need an update.

  • Check your printer's firmware version by going to “Printers & Scanner” from the “System settings” under the Apple menu.
  • Then, tap on your printer name from the printer list and select “Options & supplies” to see the driver version.
  • Once you find the current driver version, check the printer manufacturer's website to download the new updates. Then install it with the help of instructions.

If the error persists, reboot the printer

If the above solutions don’t solve the Epson printer offline Mac issue then reset your printer system.
